With a range of products including milling machines, numerical controls and software modules, Fidia possesses the skills required in order to design, manufacture and service complex milling systems in which all components must be perfectly integrated.

      • HSM Machines

Fidia has been manufacturing high speed milling machines since its entry into the milling machine market in the early 90’s. Today, the High Speed Milling (HSM) segment offers an extensive product range: from the compact HS664 to the large GTF series gantry machines.

      • Numerical controls

Fidia has designed and manufactured numerical controls for milling machines since 1974, the year the company was founded. With its focus having always been on the machining of complex shapes, Fidia today produces numerical controls that are used for the machining of dies, for aeronautical components and general engineering.

      • Milling heads

Fidia milling heads cover a wide range of applications: from roughing out to high speed finishing on steel, aluminium and lightweight materials. All heads are the bi-rotary type with continuous and indexed axes, suitable for machining on 5 or 2+3 axes.

      • Accessories

Complementing the machine and numerical control configuration, Fidia accessories extend functionality and significantly simplify use while also improving performance.

      • Software

Fidia has developed various software modules that operate on its numerical controls and are used in different environments: from anti-collision control to on-machine programming, from remote monitoring of machine activity to adaptive control.

Fidia presents the new c40 numerical control

4 September 2019 InForm
New Numerical Control C40 The leading control in the Fidia range, the C40 offers specific solutions, developed to guarantee high level performance for high speed machining on 5 or more axes. The C40 control is ideally suited for the milling of aeronautical components and moulds & dies, where high feeds are required together with high precision. The RTCP function, that simplifies the use of 5-axis machines, and the Velocity 5 technology, combining high speed with excellent quality, take advantage of the processing power of the C40. The dual monitor configuration allows for full and simultaneous control of the machine tool parameters and user applications.

Novomeccanica & Fidia

6 September 2018 InForm
From their attention to the market and a capacity for innovation shared by Novomeccanica and Fidia, a very ambitious project took shape: building an extremely flexible machine tool, able to perform milling and turning operations on various materials, from aluminium to steel, on large scale components and with extremely high precision. To meet the various necessary requirements, Fidia proposed a Gantry machine from the GTF series with a comprehensive configuration, incorporating a large rotary table, that can be used for milling and turning, and an automatic system for changing the spindle. Recently installed, the machine tool has given rise to a new and rewarding

Fidia new factory Travelling along the bypass east of Forlì your attention is drawn to the outline of a factory building that differs from the others: a structure with an imposing mass and a precise identity - this is the new Fidia production plant. The project originated from the need to meet the demand for increasing production volumes and to have the necessary space to build large dimension machine tools. A modern, efficient production plant was needed, with the necessary structures and areas for designing and manufacturing the new machine tools and milling systems required by the market. The new plant was constructed incorporating

Listening to the workshop Since its foundation in 1974, Fidia has brought innovation into the world of milling. With its first CNC11 system, Fidia extended the use of numerical control to fields that until then had been the reserve of copying. Thanks to this technology, the machining of moulds, dies and other complex forms has seen significant progress in terms of precision, execution times, reliability and competitiveness. Immediately appreciated in the field of moulds, dies and aeronautical components, Fidia controls soon spread worldwide. Attentive to the requirements and suggestions of its broad Client base, Fidia has over time developed many functions that simplify and

Achieving Excellence with Fidia and Century Tool

Founded by business partners Gerald Cummings and Jack Allard in 1974 Century Tool started out as a shop with a few manual machines that produced small dies and fixtures in Fenton, Michigan, USA. It just so happens, FIDIA was born the same year. With the help from workers Mike and Kevin Cummings, Century Tool started to work actively in all stages of manufacturing. ‘Hands on Management’ is a hallmark of their business ethic. Through the years, the company has developed into one of the biggest Compression Mold Builders in the country. Century Tool performs everything as a one stop shop: from the complete tooling design, machining, assembly and try-out, working for customers such as General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mercury Marine, Kenworth. We’ve interviewed Mickey Gukian, Production manager engaged with the company since 1985, asking him to tell us about the positive and long lasting collaboration with Fidia.

Fontana and Fidia: boosting returns on investment

Starting life as a machine shop in 1956 through the expertise and skill of its founder, Pietro Fontana, the company – which later developed into the Fontana Group – is now a successful multinational constructing dies and producing car bodies for the automotive sector. The company started working with Fidia in the early 80’s when it had just one production facility at Calolziocorte, and then successfully built on this enduring mutual relationship setting up Fontana Kalip, in Istanbul, where the milling machines are today equipped with fifteen Fidia C20 CNCs. There we met the Plant Manager to discuss challenges for the future, note the progress of a large retrofitting programme and gather initial impressions of the application of the new Fidia ‘Velocity 5™’ software.

Torino Design and Fidia. Technology and innovation, a perfect

style combination

“Good design is innovative, it interprets new technology.” This is how Roberto Piatti, CEO and founder of Torino Design begins his book ‘Il car design verso nuovi orizzonti’, published by Silvana Editoriale to celebrate the first 10 years of the design centre he created and named after the city that symbolises the Automobile. More than 200 models have been created, an intense design activity encompassing dream cars and standard models, in both the private and commercial sectors, and focusing on strategic markets such as India and China. Following our last interview, published in Fidia InForm in 2003 when he was still Managing Director at Stile Bertone, we caught up with Roberto Piatti to ask him about his new entrepreneurial adventure and the philosophy behind it. A sailing enthusiast, a fan of classic roadsters and a lover of beauty understood as an identity and means of expression that is not defined by fashion trends, Roberto Piatti welcomed us in the luminous offices at Moncalieri where he heads a team of 60 engineers, stylists and designers.
